# Configure Item Dimensions

### How to Configure Item Dimensions in Muhasib ERP

### Overview

This guide will help you define variation dimensions and values that can distinguish derived items such as size, color, or pack.

The parent/variant workflow can present variations during item selection and reporting. Unsupported or duplicate combinations should be excluded.

### Who can do this

You need access to Item Dimensions access and Item Update for the parent/derived records.

### Before you start

Create the non-stock parent and agree on dimension names, allowed values, ordering, naming, SKU/barcode, pricing, and stock ownership.

Back Office → Items &amp; Advanced Inventory → Manage Items → select parent → Item Dimensions.

### Configure Item Dimensions

#### Step 1: Confirm the selected item is the intended parent

#### Step 2: Add the first dimension and its allowed values

#### Step 3: Add further dimensions only when needed

#### Step 4: Review value spelling and order

#### Step 5: Save the dimension definition

#### Step 6: Create or associate each supported derived item/combination through the verified

#### Step 7: Give every derived item a unique barcode/SKU and stock configuration

### Check your work

Test every allowed combination in Item master, Purchase, POS, Sale Return, stock reports, and forecast.
