How to Create an Item Category in Muhasib ERP
Overview
This guide will help you create a category that organizes items for POS filtering and reporting.
The category becomes available in Item master and needed POS/report filters.
Who can do this
You need access to Item Category and Item Category Add.
Before you start
Define a stable hierarchy and decide whether the category is top-level or belongs under an existing parent.
Before saving, check that the correct company is open and that you have permission to complete this task.
Where to find it
Back Office → Items & Advanced Inventory → Manage Item Category.
Create an Item Category
Step 1: Choose New Record
Step 2: Enter Category Name and Long Description
Step 3: Select Parent when this is a child category
Step 4: Choose front/back display colors when used by the POS interface
Step 5: Choose Save
Check your work
Assign it to a disposable item and check hierarchy, color, POS filter, and report grouping.
Take a moment to check your work before closing the window. This small check can save time later.
If something goes wrong
- Avoid circular/self-parent relationships.
- Do not rename categories without considering historical report labels.
