Configure a Parent Item and Variants
How to Configure a Parent Item and Variants in Muhasib ERP
Overview
This guide will help you create a non-stock parent item and associate stockable variation items beneath it.
The parent provides a grouping/settings identity while derived items carry stock and transaction identity.
Who can do this
You need access to Item Add/Update and Item Dimensions.
Before you start
Define dimensions and valid combinations, naming/barcode/SKU policy, shared category/brand/tax, variant-specific price, and opening stock.
Before saving, check that the correct company is open and that you have permission to complete this task.
Where to find it
Back Office → Items & Advanced Inventory → Manage Items.

Check your work
Confirm each variation is independently selectable, priced, stocked, purchased, sold, returned, and reported while grouping under the parent where intended.
Take a moment to check your work before closing the window. This small check can save time later.
If something goes wrong
- Do not reuse one barcode across variations.
- Remove/reassign children through supported updates before an approved parent retirement.
